beloved and faithful Robert Mautuleut, knight, <strong>the</strong> lands <strong>of</strong> Tybrys<br />

with <strong>the</strong> pertinents, in <strong>the</strong> sheriffdom <strong>of</strong> Dromfres, falling to <strong>the</strong> King<br />

by reason <strong>of</strong> forfeiture or escheat, without any o<strong>the</strong>r royal riglit, to be<br />

held to <strong>the</strong> said Robert and his heirs, <strong>of</strong> us and our heirs, in fee and<br />

heritage, for ever, in <strong>the</strong> same way, and by <strong>the</strong> same services as Greorge<br />

<strong>of</strong> Dunbarre, sometime Earl <strong>of</strong> March, freely held <strong>the</strong> lands <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> King<br />

in times bypast. <strong>The</strong> King commands his seal to be affixed. Witnesses,<br />

[In <strong>the</strong> same year a charter is given by G3orge <strong>of</strong> Dunbarre, Earl <strong>of</strong><br />

March and lord <strong>of</strong> Man, to his beloved cousin, George <strong>of</strong> Kyrkpatrick, son<br />

<strong>of</strong> Thomas <strong>of</strong> Kyrkpatrick, knight, lord <strong>of</strong> Kylosbern, <strong>of</strong> his whole lands<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> town <strong>of</strong> Dalgarnok, in <strong>the</strong> barony <strong>of</strong> Tybris, &c. for his service,<br />

resigned by Edward <strong>of</strong> Craufurd : to be held by him and <strong>the</strong> heirs male<br />

<strong>of</strong> his body, whom failing <strong>the</strong> said Thomas, knight, and <strong>the</strong> heirs male<br />

<strong>of</strong> his body, whom failing <strong>the</strong> lawful heirs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> said Thomas whomsoever,<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Earl and his heirs, in fee and heritage, for paying a silver<br />

penny at Michaelmas in <strong>the</strong> church <strong>of</strong> St. Michael <strong>of</strong> Dalgarnok, in<br />

name <strong>of</strong> blenchferm, if asked only. Sealetl at Dunbarre, 10 October<br />

1423. Witnesses, Patrik <strong>of</strong> Dunbarre, <strong>the</strong> Earl's son and heir, Columba<br />

<strong>of</strong> Dunbarre, <strong>the</strong> Earl's bro<strong>the</strong>r, bishop <strong>of</strong> Moray, Patrik Dunbarre,<br />

knight, lord <strong>of</strong> Bele, Patrik <strong>of</strong> Dunbarre, his son, Gilbert Grersoun,<br />

<strong>the</strong> Earl's bailie <strong>of</strong> Ty^[r]is, and Hugh <strong>of</strong> Spens, <strong>the</strong> Earl's esquire.<br />

[Seal wanting.] A precept <strong>of</strong> sasine is issued by <strong>the</strong> same Earl where<br />

he is styled George <strong>of</strong> Dunbarre, Earl <strong>of</strong> March only, directed to<br />

Gilbert Grersoun, his bailie <strong>of</strong> Tybris, on <strong>the</strong> resignation <strong>of</strong> Craufurd,<br />

and before <strong>the</strong> date <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> charter. For it is given under <strong>the</strong> Earl's<br />

seal at Dunbarre, 20tli August 1423. [Seal remaining—Shield, a lion<br />

rampant ; crest, a horse's head.]<br />
