Drumlangrig, knight, bore to his wellbeloved son and apparent heir,<br />

William Douglas, he bound himself and his heirs to infeft <strong>the</strong> foresaid<br />

William, his heirs and assignees, in heritable fee <strong>of</strong> all and sundry <strong>the</strong><br />

lands and barony <strong>of</strong> Drumlanrig in <strong>the</strong> sheriffdom <strong>of</strong> Dumfries, also <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> said James' town and lands <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lands and barony <strong>of</strong> Tibberis<br />

with mills, 10 merk lands <strong>of</strong> old extent <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> town <strong>of</strong> Dalgarnok, 50 s.<br />

land <strong>of</strong> old extent <strong>of</strong> Glencorce and Drumfadzeane, in <strong>the</strong> same sheriffdom<br />

; <strong>the</strong> lands and barony <strong>of</strong> Hawik, viz. in property <strong>the</strong> town <strong>of</strong><br />

Hawik with mill, lands <strong>of</strong> Eist Manis, West Manis, Crunach and<br />

Kirktoun Mannis, Flekkis, Carlinpile, &c., and in tenantry Howpaslet,<br />

Chesholme, Quhitechestir, Edgaristoun, &c., advocation and<br />

donation <strong>of</strong> churches and chaplainries, in <strong>the</strong> sheri5*dom <strong>of</strong> Roxburgh,<br />

with this provision in <strong>the</strong> before named James' obligation that <strong>the</strong><br />

foresaid William should give to <strong>the</strong> said James and whatever oiher<br />

persons <strong>the</strong> said James should be pleased to nominate, a letter <strong>of</strong> reversion<br />

for redemption <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lands and baronies, in case it happened <strong>the</strong><br />

foresaid William to decease without heirs male <strong>of</strong> his body, containing<br />

in it a certain sum <strong>of</strong> money : On strength <strong>of</strong> which letter <strong>the</strong> foresaid<br />

James had caused to be infefted <strong>the</strong> said William, his son, and his heirs<br />

and assignees, in fee <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lands and baronies above specified : And<br />
