Ane Act in favours <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Viscount <strong>of</strong> Tarbet, dissolving his lands<br />

<strong>the</strong>rein mentioned from <strong>the</strong> shire <strong>of</strong> Ross and annexing <strong>the</strong>m to <strong>the</strong><br />

shire <strong>of</strong> Cromartie. And also <strong>the</strong> Lord Advocat's lands mentioned in <strong>the</strong><br />

said Act being read, was approven.<br />

A petition given in bj <strong>the</strong> Oountes <strong>of</strong> Lauderdale in behalfe <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Earle, her husband, being read, <strong>the</strong> petition given in by <strong>the</strong> Earle <strong>of</strong><br />

Sou<strong>the</strong>sque and Pittarro craving <strong>the</strong> process depending at <strong>the</strong>ir instance<br />

against <strong>the</strong> said Earle to be remitted to <strong>the</strong> Lords <strong>of</strong> Session, was laid<br />

asyde.<br />

<strong>The</strong> fjfth <strong>of</strong> June 1685.<br />

<strong>The</strong> process <strong>of</strong> treason against <strong>the</strong> Lord Melvill and David Montgomerie<br />

<strong>of</strong> Lainshaw being brought in, and <strong>the</strong>y being thrice called and<br />

not compearing, and <strong>the</strong> Advocat having insisted joyntly on <strong>the</strong>se two<br />

articles <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lybell against <strong>the</strong> Lord Melvill viz. : his corresponding<br />

with <strong>the</strong> rebells, and 2dly his accession to <strong>the</strong> conspiracie, <strong>the</strong> lybell was<br />

found revelant and <strong>the</strong> lybell against Lainshaw anent his accession to<br />

<strong>the</strong> conspiracie was likwayes found relevant.<br />

Vpon consideration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> probation against <strong>the</strong> Lord Melvill, both<br />

articles <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lybell were found proven.<br />

Vpon consideration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> probation against Lainshaw, <strong>the</strong> lybell also<br />

found proven.<br />

Warrand given for a citation at <strong>the</strong> instance <strong>of</strong> James Hamilton <strong>of</strong><br />

Maner Eleistoun against Mr. John Eleis.<br />

Eight <strong>of</strong> June 1685.<br />

<strong>The</strong> process at <strong>the</strong> instance <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Laird <strong>of</strong> Edzell against <strong>the</strong> Earle<br />

<strong>of</strong> Crawfurd, being this day taken in consideration by <strong>the</strong> Lords <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Articles, concerning <strong>the</strong> title <strong>of</strong> Earle <strong>of</strong> Crawford and <strong>the</strong> precedencie<br />

due <strong>the</strong>reto, after debate <strong>the</strong> process was laid asyde.<br />

A petition being read, given in by <strong>the</strong> Earle <strong>of</strong> Sou<strong>the</strong>sque and <strong>the</strong><br />

Laird <strong>of</strong> Pittarro, and after debate that point being putt to <strong>the</strong> vote, if a<br />

commission or warrand should be granted to such <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lords <strong>of</strong><br />

Session as are members <strong>of</strong> Parliament, to take <strong>the</strong> depositions <strong>of</strong><br />

witnesses to be adduced by <strong>the</strong> petitioners in that matter, to ly in<br />

retentis, least <strong>the</strong> probation perish, it was carded in <strong>the</strong> negative that<br />

such a commission or Avairand should not be granted.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Act for security to <strong>the</strong> persones and goods <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> bishops and<br />

ministers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> gospel), being againe brought in and read, was approven<br />

to be <strong>of</strong>fered to <strong>the</strong> parliament.<br />

Ane Act anent planting and inclosing being read, appro^;en to be<br />

bi'ought in to <strong>the</strong> parliament.<br />

Nynth <strong>of</strong> June 1685.<br />

A petition being read, given in by <strong>the</strong> children <strong>of</strong> Sir William<br />

Primerose, desireing that in respect he was so affected with a palsie as<br />

he was not able to goe about his affaires, that some persones might be<br />

authojised to manage his estate and uplift his rents, <strong>the</strong> same was<br />

granted.<br />

A petition given in by in PiLtenweyme, anent <strong>the</strong> making<br />

<strong>of</strong> black beere, being read, remitted to <strong>the</strong> councill.<br />

Ane Act for encouraging <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Greenland fishing, being read, was<br />

voted and approven to be oiFered to <strong>the</strong> parliament.<br />

Ane Act concerning registrations and <strong>the</strong> clerks <strong>of</strong> Session being<br />

read was putt to <strong>the</strong> vote and approven to be brought in to <strong>the</strong> parliament.
