uould be a greater rub on his Ministers <strong>the</strong>n scraping his name<br />

out <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Commision <strong>of</strong> Councill could be to Claverous. A great<br />

deall mor I sayd, uhich I need not troble your <strong>Grace</strong> ui<strong>the</strong> ; but<br />

at last <strong>the</strong> King uas convinced I uas in <strong>the</strong> right, and layd it<br />

assyde. I tould him so sone as Claverous made applications to<br />

your <strong>Grace</strong>, and sutch diw acknowligments as uas fitt, I kniw you<br />

uould interced to hawe him put on <strong>the</strong> Councill agaen. This hes<br />

bine put in <strong>the</strong> King's head, but I doe not know by whom. I am<br />

93. Earle <strong>of</strong> Dunbartone uryts to you by this post ane account<br />

<strong>of</strong> a discours L*^* Lundin had to him, uhich he tould E. Middletone<br />

and me. I need not repeat it, since <strong>the</strong> persone to uhom it<br />

was sayd can giue <strong>the</strong> exactest account <strong>of</strong> it. By it you uill see<br />

<strong>the</strong> uay that is takin, and I cannot doubt but <strong>the</strong>s things may be<br />

sayd to <strong>the</strong> Kinge as ueall as to o<strong>the</strong>rs : pray your <strong>Grace</strong>, iff any<br />

thinge lyke that past amongst you, lett us know uhat uas sayd on<br />

bo<strong>the</strong> syds : and when you intend to hawe any <strong>of</strong> your letters<br />

showne to <strong>the</strong> Kinge, wryt tuo, iff you thinke fitt, a privat letter,<br />

and <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r to be shown. <strong>The</strong> same persone sayd to me yisterday<br />

morning, that he uas sure <strong>the</strong>r uould be no oppinion given<br />

for setling <strong>the</strong> west cuntry, becaus <strong>the</strong>r could be non effectuall<br />

found out but uhat uas falne upon when he uas in Clidesdell,<br />

and that behoved to be broken, becaus it could not be don in<br />

Nidesdell, and that D. Ham : L^- Reg[i]ster, Presed[ent] <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Sessione, Justice Clerke, and all <strong>the</strong> rest uho near sent to <strong>the</strong><br />

sever all distriks near <strong>of</strong> his mind, and declaered so to him. I<br />

driw blood this morninge, and ui<strong>the</strong> goeinge to uaet on <strong>the</strong><br />

Kinge emedeatly after, I uas verry ill all this afternon, but<br />

thanks to God, am now better.<br />
