this morninge to <strong>the</strong>r Hous rede a Bill for setlinge <strong>the</strong> Reveniw<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> late Kinge on his present Majesty during his lyffe. <strong>The</strong><br />

Hous <strong>of</strong> Peers by a vote reshinded and anuled <strong>the</strong> impeatchments<br />

aganst <strong>the</strong> Lords that near in <strong>the</strong> Toure. <strong>The</strong> good beginings <strong>of</strong><br />

this parliament refreshes <strong>the</strong> hearts <strong>of</strong> all loyall and honest men,<br />

and it is not doubted but <strong>the</strong> conclusione uill tend to <strong>the</strong> greatnes<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> monarchy and <strong>the</strong> tranquilety and happines <strong>of</strong> bo<strong>the</strong><br />

Kinge and Kingdoms. You haw in our joint letter to your <strong>Grace</strong><br />

and Lordships a full account <strong>of</strong> all, and I need not repeat in this<br />

uhat is so fully exprest <strong>the</strong>r. <strong>The</strong> Kinge is takinge all imaginable<br />

caer to prevent and resist <strong>the</strong> villanous attempts <strong>of</strong> Argyle, and<br />

his associatinge conspirators, as you will sie in <strong>the</strong> account wee<br />

haw sent you. <strong>The</strong> Kinge hes dispatched L*- Coll. Maxwiil to<br />

<strong>Scotland</strong> to attend <strong>the</strong> Dwke <strong>of</strong> Gordone, and be asistinge to him<br />

in <strong>the</strong> managment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Commisione <strong>of</strong> Liuetennosy <strong>the</strong> Kinge<br />

now sends him. I haw inquyred at L^- Melfort conserninge <strong>the</strong> Act<br />

<strong>of</strong> Indemnety, and he says he hes sent doune <strong>the</strong> verry same draught<br />

that uas sent up to him, but I think <strong>the</strong>r wdll be no uss <strong>of</strong> it now<br />

till this brushe be over I haw acquented <strong>the</strong> Kinge<br />

ui<strong>the</strong> uhat your <strong>Grace</strong> says conserning D. Monmou<strong>the</strong>, uharui<strong>the</strong><br />

he is weal saetisfied ; as he is extremly ui<strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong> Acte <strong>of</strong> Supply,<br />

uhich uill be put in <strong>the</strong> Gazet, and <strong>the</strong> Act conserninge <strong>the</strong> Test.<br />

As I tould your <strong>Grace</strong> in my last, E. Seafort complaend to <strong>the</strong><br />

Kinge that he uas neglect [e] d by <strong>the</strong> last proclamotions orderinge<br />

<strong>the</strong> command <strong>of</strong> his interest to <strong>the</strong> tutors and factors <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> L^-<br />

Lovat ; when <strong>the</strong> King spoke <strong>of</strong> it to me this morninge, I tould<br />

him my sone uas also left out, uhich I uas sure uas nothinge but<br />

mistake, and <strong>the</strong>rfor <strong>the</strong> Kinge hes orderd Commisons for bo<strong>the</strong>,<br />

as your <strong>Grace</strong> will see by our joint letter.<br />

Postscript :—<strong>The</strong> thre Acts formerly sent up and now<br />

mentioned in <strong>the</strong> Secret Commity's Letter ar inclosed.<br />

Secret Committee : not in Queensberry's hand. Undated,<br />

164. This contains 4 Letters from <strong>the</strong> Sec. Committie, Earle<br />

Morray, and L'^- Register, by which it's evident <strong>the</strong> Act about<br />

<strong>the</strong> Test was approven by <strong>the</strong> King. <strong>The</strong> Commissioners <strong>of</strong><br />

Supplie, &c. wer named by <strong>the</strong> Sec. Committie's advice,
