and his heirs, on <strong>the</strong> narrative that whereas <strong>the</strong><br />

said William had made<br />

to him and his heirs a new infeffcment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 18 merks worth <strong>of</strong> land<br />

<strong>of</strong> Achingascill and Achinbanze, and 8 merks worth <strong>of</strong> land in <strong>the</strong> town<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Tybbiris <strong>of</strong> old extent, in <strong>the</strong> barony <strong>of</strong> Tybberis and sheriffdom<br />

<strong>of</strong> Drumfress, " and als suld gifF me ane confirmacioun " <strong>of</strong> all o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

William. If he or his heirs failed herein, he binds himself in <strong>the</strong> sum<br />

<strong>of</strong> £200 Scots to be paid to Sir William or his heirs ; and he and his<br />

heirs would remain " afltald tennandis to <strong>the</strong> said Wilzeam and his ayris<br />

for euyr." Seal affixed at Drumlangrjg, 21 July 1510. Witnesses,<br />

13. Inventory <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> goods <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> late William Douglas <strong>of</strong> Drumlanrig,<br />

knight, who died in Northumberland, in <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> war,<br />

10 September 1513, made by Elizabeth Grordoun, his relict. At <strong>the</strong><br />

Confirmed by James Archbishop <strong>of</strong> Glasgow, who because <strong>the</strong> said<br />

William died intestate appointed Elizabeth Gordon n, his relict, to be<br />

executor dative. Dated at Edinburgh, 8 June 1515. [Seal had been<br />

once impressed but it is now obliterated.]<br />
