company to Meldrum's bro<strong>the</strong>r, that is now in Dumbarton's regiment.<br />

you. Yesterday, Holloway, one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> conspirators was hanged, and<br />

died with little concerne for him self ; and tho' he owned <strong>the</strong> conspiracy,<br />

continud stuborne as to his factious princeples. As for foraine newse^<br />

you will find it in <strong>the</strong> Gazette.<br />

87. Was glad to find that most loyal men were pleased at Perth's<br />

being made Chancellor.<br />

This is only to tell you that I haue had yours <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 15 : by which<br />

I am very glad to find that most <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> loyal men are pleased at Lord<br />

Perth's being made Chancelor. I haue not yett seen what past at tlie<br />

Secret Comitty, but beleve I shall when I am at London, where I intend<br />

to be to-morrow. I came yesterday from Windsor, and when I returne<br />

back <strong>the</strong><strong>the</strong>r, which I intend on Thursday, shall answer more particularly<br />

your letter, hauing not tyme to do it now.<br />
