Bill Thorpe Walk<strong>in</strong>g Bridge (2)<br />
<strong>The</strong> Bill Thorpe Walk<strong>in</strong>g Bridge, once the<br />
city’s rail bridge, is a city landmark that<br />
connects Fredericton’s North and South<br />
sides. <strong>The</strong> bridge is an iconic part <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Fredericton trail system with over 85km<br />
<strong>of</strong> trails. <strong>The</strong>se trails add to the creation<br />
<strong>of</strong> a greener more enjoyable city and <strong>in</strong><br />
2009 Fredericton was named Up<br />
Magaz<strong>in</strong>es “Most Walkable City <strong>in</strong><br />
Canada”.<br />
Christ Church Cathedral (3)<br />
Early settlers build this prov<strong>in</strong>cial<br />
landmark after Queen Victoria made<br />
Fredericton a “Cathedral City”. Orig<strong>in</strong>ally<br />
known as the Gothic Church Cathedral,<br />
the Christ Church Cathedral is one <strong>of</strong><br />
Fredericton’s oldest build<strong>in</strong>gs. <strong>The</strong><br />
build<strong>in</strong>g is a great example <strong>of</strong><br />
Fredericton’s heritage preservation.<br />
Historic Garrison District (4)<br />
Created when British troops were<br />
garrisoned <strong>in</strong> the area <strong>in</strong> 1874, the<br />
historic Garrison District is a ma<strong>in</strong> part <strong>of</strong><br />
Fredericton’ military compound and the<br />
city’s rich military history. <strong>The</strong> District is<br />
a Class A tourist attraction and has the<br />
dist<strong>in</strong>ction <strong>of</strong> be<strong>in</strong>g both a National and<br />
Prov<strong>in</strong>cial Historic Site. Located <strong>in</strong> the<br />
heart <strong>of</strong> the city’s downtown, the District<br />

Garrison is a centre <strong>of</strong> activity with the<br />
Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival, New<br />
Brunswick F<strong>in</strong>e Craft Festival, Outdoor<br />
Summer <strong>The</strong>atre, Chang<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> the Guard<br />

Lighthouse on the Green (5)<br />
<strong>The</strong> Lighthouse on the Green is one <strong>of</strong><br />
the major outdoor attractions <strong>in</strong><br />
downtown Fredericton along the St John<br />
River. <strong>The</strong> Lighthouse provides activities<br />
such as outdoor yoga and guided bike<br />
tours.<br />
Boyce Market (6)<br />
<strong>The</strong> Boyce Farmers Market was named one <strong>of</strong> Canada’s top 10 community markets. It’s a local weekend tradition all year<br />
long <strong>in</strong> the city. <strong>The</strong> market itself has over 250 local suppliers from across the prov<strong>in</strong>ce, sell<strong>in</strong>g products from fresh and<br />
healthy food and produce to local handmade crafts.<br />
Prov<strong>in</strong>cial Assembly (7)<br />
Built <strong>in</strong> 1882, the Legislative Assembly Build<strong>in</strong>g is the head build<strong>in</strong>g for prov<strong>in</strong>cial government affairs <strong>in</strong> New Brunswick. <strong>The</strong><br />
Prov<strong>in</strong>cial Assembly Build<strong>in</strong>g holds the seat <strong>of</strong> government <strong>in</strong> New Brunswick and is architecturally beautiful.<br />
Fredericton Convention Centre (8)<br />
<strong>The</strong> newly erected Fredericton Convention Centre is a state <strong>of</strong> the art facility downtown boast<strong>in</strong>g a 12,500 square foot<br />
ballroom. <strong>The</strong> Convention Centre itself was opened <strong>in</strong> January 2011 and received LEED certification for energy and<br />
environmental build<strong>in</strong>g design.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Fredericton Playhouse (9)<br />
<strong>The</strong> Fredericton Playhouse was built <strong>in</strong> 1964 and is among<br />
the Prov<strong>in</strong>ces premiere centres for the perform<strong>in</strong>g arts. <strong>The</strong><br />
Playhouse has undergone certa<strong>in</strong> upgrades and is a now<br />
an ideal pr<strong>of</strong>essional downtown venue for local and<br />
<strong>in</strong>ternational artists.<br />
Science East (10)<br />
Located near the downtown, Science East is Fredericton’s<br />
Science Centre. Science East has over 100 exhibits and is<br />
a popular attraction for school aged education groups. It<br />
also represents one <strong>of</strong> the best and most recent examples<br />
<strong>of</strong> land use redevelopment – the build<strong>in</strong>g was once the York<br />
County Jail.<br />
New Brunswick College <strong>of</strong> Craft and Design (11)<br />
Built <strong>in</strong> 1938, <strong>The</strong> New Brunswick College <strong>of</strong> Craft and<br />
Design is dedicated entirely to f<strong>in</strong>e craft and design. It<br />
boasts an impressive teach<strong>in</strong>g staff made up <strong>of</strong> awardw<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g<br />
f<strong>in</strong>e craftspeople.<br />
K<strong>in</strong>gs Place (12)<br />
K<strong>in</strong>gs Place is Fredericton’s downtown mall and shopp<strong>in</strong>g<br />
centre. <strong>The</strong> shopp<strong>in</strong>g centre has an excit<strong>in</strong>g mix <strong>of</strong><br />
exclusive retail and service retail outlets.<br />
Beaverbrook Art Gallery (13)<br />
<strong>The</strong> Beaverbrook Art Gallery located near the Convention<br />
Centre is known for its collection <strong>of</strong> British pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>gs. <strong>The</strong><br />
Art Gallery also supports First Nations, Francophone and<br />
local artists. <strong>The</strong> museum displays many pieces by artists<br />
that practice <strong>in</strong> New Brunswick.<br />
Regent Street Warf (14)<br />
<strong>The</strong> Regent Street Warf is a popular overnight dest<strong>in</strong>ation<br />
for Maritime boat<strong>in</strong>g enthusiasts. Located <strong>in</strong> the downtown<br />
core, overnight boaters are able to tie up and enjoy the<br />
many shops, bars and restaurants <strong>of</strong> downtown<br />
Fredericton.<br />
Chancery Place (15)<br />
In 2007, the Premier <strong>of</strong> New Brunswick announced that the<br />
Prov<strong>in</strong>ce would lease the new government <strong>of</strong>fice build<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
<strong>The</strong> lease would be <strong>in</strong> the new <strong>of</strong>fice tower which was built<br />
as part <strong>of</strong> the City <strong>of</strong> Fredericton’s downtown<br />
redevelopment project. <strong>The</strong> development project <strong>in</strong>cludes a<br />
government <strong>of</strong>fice tower, conference centre and park<strong>in</strong>g<br />
garage.<br />
Fred-e-Zone<br />
Fredericton is the first free wireless city <strong>in</strong> Canada. A city<br />
owned network has provides many areas <strong>of</strong> the town with<br />
free Wi-Fi services.<br />
