Heavy Vehicles<br />

The following provisions are <strong>to</strong> be applied <strong>to</strong> the movement of heavy vehicles across the<br />

site:<br />

• Heavy vehicle movements are <strong>to</strong> occur outside of peak traffic conditions where<br />

possible;<br />

• Heavy vehicle drivers are <strong>to</strong> abide by the construction vehicle code of conduct<br />

(see Section 8.3);<br />

• Heavy vehicles will use local roads only when absolutely necessary;<br />

• Heavy vehicle movements will be restricted <strong>to</strong> roadways of sufficient design<br />

and capacity <strong>to</strong> accommodate the vehicles movements and weight (a haulage<br />

route comprised of the major roads <strong>to</strong> most likely <strong>to</strong> be used for construction<br />

traffic is Shown in Figures 5.1 <strong>to</strong> 5.6) unless absolutely necessary; and<br />

• The RTA, local council and local police will be notified before the<br />

commencement of heavy vehicle movements.<br />
