PROCEDURE FOR REQUESTING A CHANGE IN M http://www.mc.uky.edu/nursing/StuResources/grads/handbook2005-06/proc_req.htm Page 1 of 1 2/23/2011 PROCEDURE FOR REQUESTING A CHANGE IN M.S.N. SPECIALTY TRACK Student initiates a meeting with his/her Faculty Advisor and the Track Coordinator for both the original Specialty Track and the Specialty Track to which the student wishes to move to discuss career goals. Do the student, Faculty Advisor & Track Coordinators agree that a different specialty area will better meet students’ goals? YES NO No change in specialty area. Faculty Advisor works with student to determine ways to maximize the learning experience to meet students’ goals. Student sends a letter to the Asst. Dean for Advanced Practice requesting the change and indicating how that change will better meet his/her goals. Does space exist in the new specialty track student has requested? YES Faculty Advisor submits a Request for Change in Specialty Track to Asst. Dean for Advanced Practice, and sends copies to Team Leaders of original and requested specialty tracks. NO Asst. Dean responds to student’s request in writing, indicating that the change in Specialty Track has been approved and sends copies to Faculty Advisor & Team Leaders of original and new specialty tracks. The letter includes the name of a new Faculty Advisor in the requested specialty track. Asst. Dean responds in writing to student, indicating that request not approved, but that the student will be considered in the next admission period.
