Evidence-Based Practice Project Requirement<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s in the M.S.N. program are required to complete an evidence-based practice project as<br />
part <strong>of</strong> the requirements for the M.S.N. degree. This project will be completed during NUR<br />
6<strong>05</strong> - Evidence-Based Practice. Details relating to the project are included in the syllabus you<br />
will receive when you register for that course.<br />
The title <strong>of</strong> your final report must be specified on your program <strong>of</strong> study plan filed in our<br />
Office <strong>of</strong> <strong>Student</strong> Services. The Publication Manual <strong>of</strong> the American Psychological<br />
Association (5th edition) is the style and format for all papers required in the College <strong>of</strong><br />
Nursing. See Guidelines for Scholarly Work in this handbook.<br />
Evidence-Based Practice Project for M.S.N. Degree<br />
• The purposes <strong>of</strong> the project are to use research evidence to improve clinical practice.<br />
• Types <strong>of</strong> projects include, but are not confined to, the following:<br />
◦ Critical reviews <strong>of</strong> the clinical research literature and development <strong>of</strong> a clinical<br />
protocol or guideline that reflects best practice<br />
◦ Development <strong>of</strong> an innovative clinical program<br />
◦ Evaluation <strong>of</strong> a clinical program<br />
• Evidence-based practice projects are completed in NUR 6<strong>05</strong>. The student must present a<br />
written proposal that serves as a contract. The proposal will describe the depth and scope<br />
<strong>of</strong> the project. The proposal must be signed and dated by both the student and clinical<br />
faculty supervisor and preceptor. A timetable for completion <strong>of</strong> the project is required.<br />
• Projects must not require medical IRB approval.<br />
