PROCEDURE FOR REQUESTING A CHANGE IN M.S.N. SPECIALTY TRACK<br />

<strong>Student</strong> initiates a meeting with his/her<br />

Faculty Advisor and the Track<br />

Coordinator for both the original<br />

Specialty Track and the Specialty Track<br />

to which the student wishes to move to<br />

discuss career goals.<br />

Coordinators agree that a<br />

different specialty area<br />

will better meet students’<br />

goals?<br />

YES<br />

NO<br />

No change in specialty<br />

area. Faculty Advisor<br />

works with student to<br />

determine ways to<br />

maximize the learning<br />

experience to meet<br />

students’ goals.<br />

<strong>Student</strong> sends a letter to the<br />

Asst. Dean for Advanced<br />

Practice requesting the change<br />

and indicating how that<br />

change will better meet<br />

his/her goals.<br />

Does space exist in<br />

the new specialty<br />

track student has<br />

requested?<br />

YES<br />

Faculty Advisor submits a<br />

Request for Change in Specialty<br />

Track to Asst. Dean for Advanced<br />

Practice, and sends copies to<br />

Team Leaders <strong>of</strong> original and<br />

requested specialty tracks.<br />

NO<br />

Asst. Dean responds to student’s request<br />

in writing, indicating that the change in<br />

Specialty Track has been approved and<br />

sends copies to Faculty Advisor & Team<br />

Leaders <strong>of</strong> original and new specialty<br />

tracks. The letter includes the name <strong>of</strong> a<br />

new Faculty Advisor in the requested<br />

specialty track.<br />

Asst. Dean responds<br />

in writing to student,<br />

indicating that request<br />

not approved, but that<br />

the student will be<br />

considered in the next<br />

admission period.
