Goal <strong>of</strong> Clinical Scholars Post-Masters in Nursing Option<br />
The goal <strong>of</strong> the clinical scholars option is to provide nurses holding advanced degrees in<br />
nursing with an opportunity to gain formal educational preparation in a new area <strong>of</strong> clinical<br />
specialization. Just as in the M.S.N. program, the focus is on the advanced practice <strong>of</strong> nursing.<br />
In this option, nurses with prior graduate degrees in nursing gain advanced knowledge and<br />
skills in the nursing care <strong>of</strong> a defined population <strong>of</strong> clients. Such specialized knowledge and<br />
skills are the basis for nursing leadership in health care, and a foundation for developing<br />
further expertise in doctoral study.<br />
