Updates via Instant Pilot (G4208A) 4
General Information
Prerequisites
• Agilent Instant G4208A connected to a Agilent 1100/1200/1290 Series
series HPLC module
• USB Flash Drive (Agilent part number G4208-68700).
• firmware files from the Agilent web, see “Updates from the Agilent Web” on
page 16.
NOTE
Since USB-memory sticks may vary from vendor to vendor or from type to type,
incompatibilities can occur. In general, USB-memory sticks from Sandisk and Kingston
should work. The USB-memory sticks must be FAT-16 formatted and without encryption.
Use Agilent USB-Memory Stick Kit G4208-68700.
NOTE
In case the USB Flash Disk is not recognized by the Instant Pilot, use the operating system
of your PC (Windows XP) to re-format the USB Flash Disk. Use as File System FAT (NOT
FAT32).
Update Sequence
Using the Agilent Instant Pilot G4208A, the system is updated in the following
order (the Instant Pilot takes care for this order):
1 Update of the Instant Pilot
The Instant Pilot can also be updated as described under “Updates via
LAN/RS-232 Firmware Update Tool” on page 27.
2 CAN slaves (CAN-valves, UIB or automation interface) (only main
firmware)
3 all resident firmware
4 transfer of all modules into resident mode
5 all module main firmware
6 transfer of all modules into main mode.
