2007 Review
The Texans (5-6) fell on the road to the Cleveland Browns (7-4) 27-17 in Cleveland Browns Stadium. Both defenses
flexed their might throughout most of the first quarter, coming up with consecutive three-and-out stops. Houston ended
the point drought when QB Matt Schuab drove the ball 61 yards and hit WR Kevin Walter in the end zone with a 17-yard
touchdown pass, making the score 7-0 with 2:29 remaining in the quarter. Early in the second period, the Texans looked
like they were on a roll, driving the ball to the Cleveland 36. However, Schaub’s pass intended for TE Joel Dreessen
was picked off by LB Andra Davis. On the ensuing drive, QB Derek Anderson drove the ball 70 yards, connecting with
WR Braylon Edwards on a 19-yard pass to even the score at 7-7. The Texans immediately responded, marching the ball
to the Cleveland 23. However, the team ended up settling for a 41-yard field goal by K Kris Brown to make the score
10-7. Houston got the ball back when CB Fred Bennett intercepted a pass from Anderson intended for Edwards, but
the Texans were not able to capitalize on the turnover. The Browns finished the first half with a seven-yard touchdown
pass from Anderson to WR Kellen Winslow to put Cleveland ahead 14-10. The third period belonged to the defenses
as neither team scored a touchdown. DE Mario Williams recorded his sixth sack of the season, taking down Anderson
for a five-yard loss. Midway through the quarter, the Browns managed a 25-yard field goal from K Phil Dawson to
increase their lead to 17-10. Early in the fourth period, Cleveland then booted in a second field goal, a 27-yarder from
Dawson, to make the score 20-10. On the next possession, Schaub threw an interception on a pass intended for WR
Andre Johnson, and Cleveland scored on a one-yard run from RB Jamal Lewis. Houston got the ball back and marched
downfield 80 yards with Schaub hitting TE Owen Daniels with a six-yard touchdown down pass. That brought Houston
within 27-17 with 3:17 left in the game. Cleveland, however, handed the ball over to Lewis, who ran the clock down for
the remainder of the period. Schaub finished 22-of-36 for 256 yards and two touchdowns and the Texans ultimately fell
to the Browns by a score of 27-17.this season. He finished the game 11-for-19 for 181 yards and one interception, going
3-for-3 for 47 yards in the final quarter. His performance helped Houston grab their fourth victory before heading into
the bye week.
