Davis had a great December
The NFL named WR André Davis was named AFC Special Teams
Player of the Month for December. It is the first player of the
month honor in his career. He has been named AFC Special
Teams Player of the Week twice, most recently in Week 13 of this
season.
Davis is the fifth Texans player to earn a player of the month
award overall. It also marks the second consecutive season in
which the Texans have had a player win December player of the
month honors. LB DeMeco Ryans was named Defensive Rookie of
the Month in December, 2006.
Davis (6-1, 194) led the NFL with a 34.9 kickoff return average
in December and topped the NFL with three kickoff returns for
touchdowns in a month. He joined Vitamin Smith of the Los
Angeles Rams in October, 1950, as the only players in NFL history
to return three kickoffs for touchdowns in the same month.
