Offensive Improvement
Under Kubiak
In 32 games under head coach Gary Kubiak, the Texans offense has reached
levels of productivity that were never achieved prior to his arrival. Under Kubiak,
Houston has averaged 306.3 yards per game, compared to 266.5 yards per game
from 2002-05. Houston has gained over 350 yards 10 times in 32 games under
Kubiak. In the 64 games before he became head coach, Houston topped 350
yards of offense nine times.
The Texans have passed for 204.0 yards per game under Kubiak, compared to
161.9 before Kubiak. They are allowing 2.0 sacks per game in the last two years
compared to 3.6 from 2002-05. The most important improvement has come on
the scoreboard. Houston’s scoring average has improved from a league-worst
16.2 points per game in 2002-05 to 20.2 points per game over the last two years.
