2007 Review
The Texans (6-7) returned home after two games on the road to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28-14 at Reliant
Stadium. QB Sage Rosenfels started for an injured QB Matt Schaub and threw three touchdown passes in the victory.
The Buccaneers’ opening drive ended when S Will Demps stuffed RB Earnest Graham on a fourth-down attempt.
The Texans got the ball at their 34 and Rosenfels and WR Andre Johnson helped put together a 66-yard drive that
resulted in a four-yard touchdown pass from Rosenfels to Johnson to give the Texans a 7-0 lead. In the second quarter,
Rosenfels fumbled the ball on a sack by DE Greg White and Tampa Bay recovered. QB Luke McCown and Graham
helped put together a 25-yard drive that ended with Graham scoring on a four-yard run to tie the game at 7-7. The
Texans’ defense responded when Demps forced a fumbled and returned the ball to Tampa Bay’s 26-yard line. The
Texans then capitalized with Rosenfels hitting WR Kevin Walter with an eight-yard touchdown pass to make the score
14-7. The third quarter began with WR André Davis running in a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to increase the
Texans’ lead to 21-7. Tampa Bay came back with a 69-yard drive that ended with an 11-yard touchdown run by Graham
to make the score 21-14. White sacked Rosenfels for the third time, forcing his second fumble. It was recovered by
the Buccaneers, but the team wasn’t able to convert when McCown couldn’t handle the snap three plays later. S C.C.
Brown recovered and Rosenfels found TE Owen Daniels on a 4-yard pass for his third touchdown throw to put Houston
ahead 28-14. The fourth quarter belonged to Houston’s defense. LB Morlon Greenwood and DE Earl Cochran each got
sacks in the period. Williams sacked McCown late in the fourth quarter to push his sack total to 9.5 this season. The
Texans’ defense recorded four sacks in the game with DE N.D. Kalu and DT Amobi Okoye sharing one early on, and
McCown was harassed for most of the day in the Texans’ 28-14 win.
