I competed in Policy Debate for four years in college in the late '70's. I have judged
dozens of rounds of both CEDA and NPDA Parli. I can flow and I don't mind speed.
Other than that I'm open to any strategy as long as its explained well and makes sense.

Background of the critic:
I competed in parli and IEs for USC and Mt. San Antonio College. I did mostly ADS,
Parli and CA. I have degrees in political science and communications. Professionally I
have worked extensively in politics and public policy. I am well versed in political
philosophy and rhetorical theories.
Approach of the critic to decision-making (for example, adherence to the trichotomy,
stock-issues, policymaker, tabula rasa, etc.):
I am more of a blank slate. I try not to bring my pre-existing knowledge in to the round.
BUT if you blatantly lie, make something up, or flagrantly bastardize a fact or idea, it
will impact my decision.
Relative importance of presentation/communication skills to the critic in decision-making
:
Being able to persuasively and professionally articulate your case is important to my
decision but at the end of the day the best argument(s) will win out. I do believe though
that delivery of an argument is key in winning an argument.
Relative importance of on-case argumentation to the critic in decision-making:
It is important to address the on case arguments and clearly link off-case points to the
original case.
Openness to critical/performative styles of debating:
