Depends on the round. I generally prefer substantive on-case debate to seeing canned
DAs or kritiks, but the round is yours to make as far as strategy goes. Run 4 DAs or just 8
minutes of T. Doesn't bother me.
Openness to critical/performative styles of debating:
If you want to do something like this, make sure you have a very good handle on the
theory behind your performance and that you can explain it well. But also please make
sure that it actually has some meaning and is not just for the sake of messing with
opponents. And please, no sock puppets. Just trust me on this one.
Any additional comments:
I can flow speed, and I will judge accordingly if that's how you set up the round, but I
don't LIKE speed. I think that part of this exercise is developing speaking skills one
might actually find useful in the real world, rather than being policy without cards. Other
than that, let's not take ourselves too seriously. Have fun. Make some jokes. Life's too
short to stress about debate.

11 years judging parliamentary debate.
Approach of the critic to decision-making (for example, adherence to the trichotomy,
stock-issues, policymaker, tabula rasa, etc.):
I see myself as a policymaker, broadly defined. I make decisions about policy, the
impacts those policies might have, and often, the critical implications of advocating
particular policies or arguments. (Read: I like policy debates, critical debates, and
various mixtures of the two.)
Relative importance of presentation/communication skills to the critic in decision-making
:
To be honest, I don't know how much presentation/communication skills figure into my
decision making. On an overt or explicit level, they don't, but I'm not sure how much
