INT 302A Interior Design Option Studio A: Restaurant, Hotel and Hospitality (3 = 2 + 1)<br />

Prerequisites: FES 100, FES 160, INT 255, INT 256, INT 301<br />

As an option Interior design studio, students concentrate on developing their knowledge base related to<br />

hospitality design. The course focuses on developing an expanded vocabulary of color, material, and finish<br />

thematic ideas <strong>with</strong>in the hospitality interior concept plan resulting in a variety of developed material based<br />

presentations, and detail work.<br />

INT 302B Interior Design Option Studio B: Community Institutional & Medical Facilities (3 = 2 + 1)<br />

Prerequisites: FES 100, FES 160, INT 255, INT 256, INT 301<br />

As an option Interior design studio, students concentrate on developing their knowledge base related to<br />

community institutional and medical related facilities design. The course focuses on developing an understanding<br />

of the small community medical, dental, chiropractic or similar facility, or clinic. <strong>Knowledge</strong> of interior program<br />

and planning requirements, client care consultancy needs and procedures provide the student <strong>with</strong> information to<br />

create thematic ideas, and a variety of developed material based presentations, and detail work.<br />

INT 303 Interior Design and Construction 1 (3 = 3 + 0)<br />

Prerequisite: INT 253<br />

This course builds on the knowledge of the previous construction course developing further understanding in the<br />

utilization of interior building materials and construction techniques. An investigation of engineered constructional<br />

systems, fabrication and assembly techniques, as applicable to interior and architectural structures will enable the<br />

student to understand the more pragmatic constructional nature of their conceptual designs.<br />

INT 304 Color and Materials for the Interior Environment (3 = 3 + 0)<br />

Prerequisite: INT 254<br />

This course builds on the applied practices and techniques developed in Color 1. More in – depth knowledge<br />

is explored through investigative color and material assignments designed to augment studio project work.<br />

INT 351 Third Year Studio Core 1 (3 = 1 + 2)<br />

Prerequisites: INT 301, INT 255, INT 256<br />

This course concentrates on the development of detail interior design aspects of an office project studio. The<br />

course focuses on developing the student’s vocabulary of furniture, lighting and fittings in conjunction <strong>with</strong> the<br />

materials and color palate for the project. Students will develop a further understanding of the relationship of<br />

concept, and interior design themes to actual detail design, furniture planning, furnishing styles, and furnishing and<br />

fitting selection.<br />

INT 352A Interior Design Option Studio A: Retail and Merchandising (3 = 2 + 1)<br />

Prerequisites: INT 351, INT 255, INT 256<br />

As a secondary supplementary Interior design studio, students concentrate on developing the interior design<br />

aspects of a larger retail related studio project, <strong>with</strong> a variety of developed material based presentations, and<br />

detail work. The course focuses on combining planning, and conceptual design <strong>with</strong> an expanded vocabulary<br />

of material, finish and color <strong>with</strong>in the retail and merchandising interiors project.<br />

INT 352B Interior Design Option Studio B: Recreation, Sports and Entertainment (3 = 2 + 1)<br />

Prerequisites: INT 351, INT 255, INT 256<br />

As a secondary supplementary Interior design studio, students concentrate on developing the interior design<br />

aspects of a larger recreational environment studio project, such as an entertainment, theatre or sports complex<br />

<strong>with</strong> a variety of developed material based presentations, and detail work. The course focuses on combining<br />

planning, and conceptual design <strong>with</strong> an expanded vocabulary of material, finish and color <strong>with</strong>in the interiors<br />

project.<br />

INT 353 Interior Systems: Detail Lighting, Furniture, and Fixtures Design (3 = 3 + 0)<br />

Prerequisite: INT 253, INT 301<br />

Students will gain a thorough understanding of applied interior systems, <strong>with</strong>in the context of human factors,<br />

ergonomics, and the anthropometrics of use. Areas of focus are lighting, furniture, and fixture systems in the<br />

context of interior environments in a variety of applications. A series of visiting lectures by professionals<br />

supplements the knowledge base of the course material and discussion.<br />

INT 355 Interior Design Internship (3 = 2 + 1)<br />

Prerequisites: INT 403<br />

This course aligns the theory and studio practice of the academic studio <strong>with</strong> real project experience. Students visit<br />

building sites at various stages of construction, and prepare visual and written synopsis of their field experience.<br />

This course is the coordinating foundation course for internship and practice, and outlines the procedures, options<br />
