Outcomes<br />

The resulting program outcomes are that students will be able to:<br />

1. Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering to identify, formulate, and solve<br />

building engineering problems.<br />

2. Design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.<br />

3. Design building systems and processes to meet desired needs <strong>with</strong>in realistic constraints such<br />

as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and<br />

sustainability.<br />

4. Function on multi-disciplinary teams communicate effectively and understanding of<br />

professional and ethical responsibility.<br />

5. Recognize the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning.<br />

6. Use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.<br />

Admission Requirements<br />

Applicants to the Graduate Certificate Program must hold a bachelor degree in engineering (civil,<br />

building, mechanical, electrical, petroleum and architecture) or equivalent <strong>with</strong> high standing. Qualified<br />

applicants requiring undergraduate prerequisite courses may be asked to take such courses in addition<br />

to their regular graduate program.<br />

The minimum degree requirement for the Graduate Certificate in Building Engineering is 18 credit<br />

hours composed as follows:<br />
