ACT 404 Advanced Accounting (3 = 3 + 0)<br />

Prerequisite: ACT 320<br />

This course is designed to develop students’ understanding of the corporate accounting concepts, principles, and<br />

procedures required to prepare corporate accounts and also consolidated financial statements for organizations.<br />

This course teaches the basic concepts and develops the skills necessary to prepare the consolidated balance sheet<br />

and income statement. Wherever relevant, students will explore and examine business practices, cases and real<br />

examples from local and regional environment in business combination and merger in addition to intensive<br />

reading and examination of consolidated financial statements of UAE companies. Such statements and reports will<br />

be addressed in class and also be used in exams and quizzes as material for assessments.<br />

ACT 405 Accounting Information Systems (3 = 3 + 0)<br />

Prerequisite: MIS 100 and ACT 320<br />

This course provides an introduction to the issues and terms related to accounting information systems. The<br />

purpose is to develop student skills to read and create graphical representations of systems, understand databases<br />

and data flows, and utilize computerized accounting information systems to transaction cycles and internal<br />

controls.<br />

ACT 499 Industrial Training and Internship (6 = 0 + 6) (12 Weeks)<br />

Prerequisite: ACT 320, MGT 303, QNT 401<br />

The main aim of <strong>ALHOSN</strong> <strong>University</strong>’s undergraduate degree program is to develop students and<br />

professionals to be leaders who will rise in their careers in a competitive and changing global environment. In<br />

this era, not only that the socio-economic condition is facing challenges of globalization and liberalization but<br />

the workplace environment is also becoming more dynamic as compared to the past. Employers expect fresh<br />

graduates to be able to assimilate into the complex working environment and able to perform upon the<br />

inception of their employment. Hence, the Internship or Industrial Practical Training program should be able to<br />

provide students <strong>with</strong> work- related experience and at the same time give them an edge over other job applicants<br />

when it comes to job opportunities.<br />
