8. An administrative fee is charged to each student whose application for study off-campus is<br />

approved. The fee is refundable only if the student notifies the <strong>University</strong> in writing of his or<br />

her decision to <strong>with</strong>draw from the program prior to the due date for semester bills.<br />

9. Students who <strong>with</strong>draw to attend off- campus programs not endorsed by <strong>ALHOSN</strong> <strong>University</strong>,<br />

or who go on an off-campus program <strong>with</strong>out approval will not have their course credits<br />

transferred to <strong>ALHOSN</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />

Taking a Course at Another <strong>University</strong><br />

Students who wish to enroll in courses at other institutions where the credit earned will be used for<br />

fulfilling degree requirements at <strong>ALHOSN</strong> <strong>University</strong> must adhere to the following policy:<br />

1. Obtain written approval from their <strong>ALHOSN</strong> <strong>University</strong> advisor.<br />

2. Obtain a written approval from <strong>ALHOSN</strong> <strong>University</strong> Department Chair and Dean of Faculty<br />

if the course is part of their major curriculum.<br />

3. Obtain written approval from the <strong>ALHOSN</strong> <strong>University</strong> Dean of Student Affairs.<br />

4. Have a minimum GPA of 2.0.<br />

5. A maximum of 2 courses can be registered at the other approved academic institution.<br />

6. Have an official transcript submitted to the <strong>ALHOSN</strong> <strong>University</strong> Dean of Student Affairs office<br />

immediately upon completion of the course.<br />

7. After completing 75% of course work, no student may take or transfer courses from any other<br />

academic institution.<br />

8. Courses accepted for transfer credit will be evaluated in terms of <strong>ALHOSN</strong> <strong>University</strong>’s<br />

academic policies, curriculum and the student’s proposed program at <strong>ALHOSN</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />

Fractional credit will not be granted for partial completion of any course.<br />

Credit hours will transfer for courses in which the student earns at least a grade of “C” in the other<br />

courses. Grades earned at other institutions are not used to compute <strong>ALHOSN</strong> <strong>University</strong>’s Grade<br />

Point Average (GPA).<br />

ACADEMIC REGULATIONS<br />

Course Load Limitations<br />

1. The full-time student’s normal study load in one academic semester is 15 credit hours but<br />

can range from a minimum of 12 credit hours to a maximum of 18 credit hours.<br />

2. If the student has received a second or third academic warning, the concerned Dean may<br />

decrease the study load for a full-time student to 9 credit hours.<br />

3. The study load for a full-time student may be increased to 21 credit hours (Fall/ Spring) if any<br />

of the following cases hold:<br />

a. The student’s cumulative GPA is not less than 3.5 at the end of the previous semester.<br />

b. The student is graduating in the same or following semester.<br />

c. If the remaining credit hours for the student about to graduate do not exceed 9 credit hours<br />

in the following semester.<br />

At <strong>ALHOSN</strong> <strong>University</strong>, a student is not considered to be officially enrolled until the end of the last<br />

date of enrollment. This allows more freedom for class drops or <strong>University</strong> <strong>with</strong>drawals, as they are<br />

not permanently recorded before these census dates.<br />

Lecture may be audited <strong>with</strong>out credit in accordance <strong>with</strong> the audit fee schedule and the consent of the<br />

instructor. Audited courses will not be included in determining maximum credit hours in course<br />

registration. Courses such as laboratory or studio work, requiring the active participation of the<br />

student, may be audited, but will be charged at the same fee rate as regular credit-hour courses. These<br />

courses will be considered in determining the maximum credit hours in course registration. The<br />

requirements for auditing a course are established by the instructor. An instructor may request the<br />

Admissions and Registration Office to drop a student from a course if the student is not fulfilling the<br />

audit requirements of a course.<br />
