Strategies include the following:• Sensitization/creation <strong>of</strong> awareness• Collaboration, networking, and partnership• Capacity building• Human resource development• Operational research• Development and review <strong>of</strong> information, education, and communicationmaterials• Distribution <strong>of</strong> circulars• Feedback to decision makers.Lessons LearnedThe program has not yet been evaluated. Nevertheless, several lessons havebeen learned.Ensuring ConsistencySHEP and the Alert model provide a strong basis for delivering uniform,high-quality HIV <strong>prevention</strong> education across Ghana. The systemthat has been developed allows all stakeholders to operate within clear andtransparent boundaries toward a common effort. Bringing together somany different partners with so many different needs and priorities is notwithout its complications, however. Ensuring and maintaining standardsremains a challenge.The efficient operation <strong>of</strong> SHEP district coordinators has been found tobe vital to ensuring consistency <strong>of</strong> approach.
