These results suggest that the program reduced the incidence<strong>of</strong> risky sexual behavior (figure 7.2).Cost-EffectivenessOver the program’s three-year period, the teacher training component cost$67,320 ($408 per school, $146 per teacher). Assuming that only the cohort<strong>of</strong> students enrolled in grade 5 and higher at the time <strong>of</strong> the training benefitedfrom the program, the cost per student was $2. The cost <strong>of</strong> runningdebating and essay writing <strong>programs</strong> in 82 schools—which reached 8,000students—was $8,900 ($109 per school, $1.10 per student). The cost <strong>of</strong> thesugar-daddy talk—which was implemented in 71 schools, where it reached2,500 students—was $2,000 ($28.20 per school, $0.80 per student).
