10 A Sourcebook <strong>of</strong> HIV/AIDS Prevention Programs, Vol. 2TrainingBetween 2001 and 2005, COPRESIDA/SEE formed a multidisciplinary team<strong>of</strong> training facilitators, made up <strong>of</strong> specialists in sex education, psychology,counseling, and medicine. Secondary-school teachers received training in thedelivery <strong>of</strong> PEAS during a three-day period. Teachers from all disciplineswere welcomed to take part in training, which used a variety <strong>of</strong> methods,including lectures, case analyses, group discussions, experience-sharing, andaudio-visual presentations. Topics covered included the following:• Prevention <strong>of</strong> STIs, including HIV• Teenage pregnancy• Domestic violence• Drugs and delinquency• Sexuality, values, and taboos• Stigma and discrimination• Solidarity with people living with HIV/AIDS.In 2004 PEAS began training other school pr<strong>of</strong>essionals (including schoolcounselors and psychologists) as well as peer educators (table 1.1).
