Lectures are used to provideinformation about HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Interactivemethodologies that involve students in planning and problem solvingare used to effect behavior change.ComponentsPSABH includes five components:• Integrating and infusing teaching about HIV/AIDS into the schoolcurriculum• Including HIV/AIDS in out-of-class activities (assemblies, home roomtime, anonymous school question boxes)• Supporting co-curricular activities (school health clubs and informationcorners)• Fostering peer support• Involving the wider community.Integrating and infusing teaching about HIV/AIDS into theschool curriculumThe MoEST curriculum commits one period a week for teaching aboutHIV/AIDS. In addition, teachers work in groups to plan where, in theirrespective subjects, HIV/AIDS links can be found. Identification of linksenables incorporation of MoEST’s HIV/AIDS syllabus into classroomteaching throughout the curriculum, with teachers determining themethodology to be used to teach each topic identified.(c) The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development / The World Bank
