Kerri stated it needs to be under contract by next September. Jim asked if there was asummary <strong>of</strong> that application. Kerri stated there is an executive summary that they canforward to the board electronically. John asked what the plan was once the 9 housingunits were completed. Kerri stated it could be owner-occupied or rental but they have tobe turned into affordable housing. John asked if this would be more than 9 properties.Kerri stated no, once the money was spent the project would be done. Ed asked if wewere going to just buy a 9 unit apartment building and use that instead <strong>of</strong> spreading itout. Kerri said they actually want to see impact in an area, so it would be focuses in thetargeted area/neighborhoods. She also stated there was a sense they wanted to target itto impact a neighborhood so spreading it out over neighborhoods would not accomplishthis.c. Update on Housing Programs – Kerri spoke about the tenant-based rental assistance.It is in the process <strong>of</strong> preparing and getting ready to go out for Request for Proposals(RFP). The goal is to help between 10-15 households. The RFP will be awarded to anagency to run the program. This will also require a case management piece to it whichwill be funded from CDBG. They are hoping to go to Council in early November toaward the RFP and start the program. Ed clarified that the program was to help peopleget on their feet and work towards self-sufficiency. Kerri stated that was correct andwould be a 1 year minimum for each tenant not to exceed 2 years.6. Announcements/Other Info Sharing/Staff Report – Kevin spoke about a task force to helpthose who become homeless in a crisis event similar to the Gateway Studios event in May.The task force includes <strong>Champaign</strong>, Urbana, Rantoul, Regional <strong>Plan</strong> Commission, UnitedWay and the Housing Authority. Kevin reminded everyone about National Night Out onSaturday, September 16 from 12-5 pm. Jim stated that the news paper had the time listedincorrectly. Kerri stated we would contact the paper to get it corrected.7. Board Comments and Suggestions – none8. Public Participation – there was no further public participation.9.
