<strong>Core</strong> <strong>Strategy</strong> <strong>Options</strong>8.18 Employment8.19 Private sector employment in Wimborne is provided mainly in the town centre, at Brook Roadand at Stone Lane Industrial Estate. Colehill does not have any employment areas, but the Ferndownand Uddens Industrial Estates are nearby. According to the 2001 Census 36% of the workforcelived and worked in Wimborne and Colehill. About 30% travelled to Poole and Bournemouth and10% to Ferndown.The Housing Debate8.20 The Key <strong>Strategy</strong> Chapter of this document sets out the over-arching issues relating to theprovision of additional residential development within the Plan area by way of the need for newneighbourhoods to existing settlements and the justification for amending the Green Belt boundary.It has been recognised for many years that there is a significant need to provide affordable housingin East Dorset. This is because house prices are high <strong>com</strong>pared to wages, the number of publicsector homes is very low and there are consequently a large number of residents who cannot affordto live in the private sector and cannot access appropriate affordable housing.
