It should beconsidered in conjunction with chapter 3 which identifies the hierarchy of centres throughout thearea. This puts forward the preferred option that West Moors should be categorised as a DistrictCentre where limited future development is expected. For further information please refer to:Key Issues Paper: Town and Neighbourhood CentresWest Moors Area Profile (2010)11.133 Where are we now?11.134 West Moors is a small town of about 7,400 people lying to the immediate north of Ferndown.It has a high proportion of elderly residents at about 35% compared to the National average of about19%. The town has good transport links being close to the A31(T) and benefits from a regular busservice. The main shopping area is situated on Station Road along with the library, village hall anda First school. The shops are comparatively small and there is no major foodstore, althoughSainsbury's is just outside the town on the northern fringe of Ferndown.
