Qualified teachers are neededwho will teach the knowledge, skills and dispositions necessary forobtaining and retaining jobs. These teachers need an understandingof teaching and the pedagogical skills necessary for trainingworkers in technical fields for a market requiring sensitivity todiversity, knowledge of skills and the practical application of thoseskills in the workplace. In order to train teachers for teachingstudents, choosing a technical education path, the State ofCalifornia has developed professional standards for CareerTechnical Education. This program has been created based uponthese standards. As a result, candidates will be prepared to useresearch-based pedagogical skills in the classroom by using theCareer Technical Education standards and frameworks. Thesecurriculum standards bolster California’s standards-basededucation system by incorporating cutting-edge technology aboutcareer options, technology and skills required for success in adultlife.Program RequirementsThe <strong>National</strong> <strong>University</strong> teacher preparation program for CareerTechnical Education is a four-month, five-course intensive programwith a sequence of courses that includes supervised teaching thatspans the entire program.
