Checksand any one of the following credit cards are accepted for yourconvenience: American Express, Discover, Visa, or MasterCard.Company invoicing is also available. Payment for Extended Learningcourses is required before attending class.Extended LearningTuitionTuition for Extended Learning courses varies per program. Currenttuition rates can be found under Course Descriptions.Refund PolicyFor courses that are at least a month long; students who drop acourse prior to midnight of the ninth (9th) day of the session willreceive a 100 percent refund. Students who withdraw from a courseon the tenth (10th) calendar day of the session will receive a 50percent refund. Students who withdraw from a course after the tenth(10th) calendar day will receive no refund. In all cases in whichrefunds are awarded, the cost of books and materials will bededucted.For courses that are less than a month long:Students will be eligible for refunds based on the percentageremaining of the course or program. Students must contact theDivision of Extended Learning to withdrawal from the course and torequest a refund.Refund Percentage of Session/Course Remaining100% 75-100%50% 67-74%No Refund 0-66%For test preparation courses and courses offered in partnership witheducational providers:Students are not eligible to receive a refund once registration hasbeen completed. These courses include CSET Preparation, TeacherEducation Test Preparation, Self-Paced Online or CD-ROM Courses,Online Paraprofessional Programs, and Online Personal Enrichment,Music Industry Educators, and Information Technology Training.Corporate TrainingCorporate training is available for businesses or school districtsthrough Extended Learning. Classes can be held at a place ofbusiness or at a <strong>National</strong> <strong>University</strong> learning center. Each programcan be tailored to target an organization’s unique challenges and inhousetraining programs can be customized to any specificationsnecessary. Through these courses, <strong>National</strong> <strong>University</strong> can providethe services to maximize training budgets.In collaboration with the American Management Association (AMA),<strong>National</strong> <strong>University</strong> offers continuing education, professional andworkforce development, and business and industry training usingAMA’s Self-Study materials. Courses and workshops teach proven,relevant skills that enable participants to transform their learningexperience into workplace performance with just-in-time knowledge.Practical management skills taught will help in developing newbusiness leaders. Areas of study include Customer Service,Managerial Skills, Time Management, Leadership, Quality, TeamBuilding, and many more. Students mustnotify Extended Learning to request withdrawal from a course. Theterm “drop” means a student has dropped a course prior to midnight(PST) of the ninth (9th) day of the session, and no grade or notationappears on the student’s record.For courses receiving a grade, the term “withdrawal” signifies that astudent has withdrawn from a course after midnight (PST) of theninth (9th) day of the session, and a “W” will appear on the student’srecord. Students who withdraw after midnight (PST) of the twentyfirst(21st) day of the session will receive a grade of “F” or “U,” asappropriate for the course. This is a permanent mark with no gradepoints assigned.For courses receiving a grade, students may drop a course prior tomidnight (PST) of the ninth (9th) day of the session, by contacting 1-866-NU-ACCESS (1-866-682-2237) or scs@nu.edu. The student is responsible for Ensuringthat the drop or withdraw is reflected in their record appropriatelyby viewing their schedule on the student web portal.Dropout Prevention Specialist CertificateProgram(811-200)Program Information: (858) 642-8600 • extlearning@nu.eduThis six-course certificate program prepares individuals to become aDropout Prevention Specialist (DPS) and be an advocate in the livesof children in at risk situations. Individuals learn about successfulstrategies proven to help young students stay in school and improvethe quality of our nation’s student graduates. Early identification andintervention, creating and improving resiliency factors, and anurturing school climate are among the strategies suggested forstudents at high risk of failure. A DPS will foster whole andemotionally healthy children who will score higher on exams, learnmore, and enjoy school more. Completion of the six courses meetsthe California Department of Education’s requirements for a DPScertificate. The certificate may qualify for continuing education unitsin California and other states.Course Delivery ModeClasses are designed to be synchronous. Students will participateremotely with real-time Voice Over Internet Protocol Technology.Broadband access is mandatory.313
