cultural activities promoted by the various Works<br />

Councils represented 0.6% of payroll.<br />

2.2.9 employee recognition<br />

(Sodexo France)<br />

The annual gala evening reception honored over<br />

330 employees (60% of them women) who have<br />

earned qualifications under our different vocational<br />

training programs, while long-service awards were<br />

presented to employees with 30 years’ seniority.<br />

2.2.10 Collective agreements<br />

In total, 18 collective agreements were signed in<br />

Fiscal 2011, including:<br />

• two riders to the employee health benefits plan;<br />

• agreement on employment of seniors;<br />

• an “integration” agreement concerning the<br />

merger of Sodexo Facilities Management into<br />

Société Française de Restauration, now Sodexo<br />

Entreprises, as part of the Group’s expansion in<br />

On Site Service Solutions.<br />

2.2.11 Health and Safety<br />

The frequency rate of work-related accidents<br />

was 49.72 in Fiscal 2011, and the severity rate<br />

was 1.50, compared to 1.38 in Fiscal 2010.<br />

There were 76 meetings of Health, Safety and<br />

Working Conditions Committees during the fiscal<br />

year.<br />

As part of general legal obligations for health and<br />

safety:<br />

• all new recruits receive initial training<br />

familiarizing them with their work area, informing<br />

them of the risks to which they will be exposed,<br />

and telling them what action they should take in<br />

the event of an accident;<br />

• as a service-provider on premises usually owned<br />

by the client, Sodexo prepares an accident<br />

prevention plan jointly with the client, based<br />

on an assessment of the risks and potential<br />

interference between our activities;<br />

• a single document, the “Work-related Risk<br />

Assessment,” is produced, which identifies<br />

dangers, analyzes risks and indicates preventive<br />

action to be taken.<br />

Four high profile programs in Fiscal 2011 concerned:<br />

• the creation of a Quality Health Safety and<br />

Environment (QHSE) Department, with a team<br />

of 2 workplace safety and health experts, backed<br />

by 17 operational QHSE officers in the field;<br />

• the introduction of a bi-monthly briefing for all<br />

Regional Directors on health and safety in the<br />

workplace, with action plans and tracking of key<br />

actions for each site;<br />

• obtaining MASE certification for two regions, and<br />

44 sites OHSAS 18001 certified;<br />

• creation of a pilot prize for health and safety in the<br />

workplace in one region, awarded to the managers<br />

whose sites have performed particularly well.<br />

2.2.12 Human Resources training and<br />

development<br />

Expenditure on training by all Sodexo businesses in<br />

France totaled 20.5 million euro in Fiscal 2011, an<br />

increase of 2.9 million euro compared to the prior<br />

year. This figure represented 2.32% of total payroll.<br />
