- 318GAUUEAN ELECmODYNAMICSBox 251Boulder, CO 80306M. 303-444-0641Dear Dr Marlnov:November 16, 1990I have received your letter of Nov. 6.Formally speaking, none of your proposed contributionsqualify for publication in this journal, because like allscientific journals, it publishes original papers only, andall five items have been submitted for publication elsewhere, with some of them already published. That is all I would have to answer, but let me continueon a personal level. Judging from some of your writings,I think you are very talented, but the form of your papersis, to say the least, bizarre. You miss no opportunity toname things after yourself (not only tasteless, but alsosuspicious, because if something is really good, it is givena name by others); you engage in personal attacks andridicule; you choose gutter press headlines for scientificpapers; you end what is to be a scientific paper with""Ignorant criminals I'* ; and more.I will be happy to have a good and serious scientificpaper reviewed, and if recommended for publication, I willprint it, even though I do not hold the same opinions inphysics as you do — as you have seen the papers in GE havenot been limited to my own theory. But such a paper wouldhave to have a serious title, contain an integratedderivation without holes to be filled by referring toobscure and effectively unavailable books or journals, bevoid of any personal attacks or denigrations, not contradictthe experimental evidence (or at least explain convincinglywhy the laws of thermodynamics may not hold — your""perpetuum mobile machine*'), be void of any personal selfaggrandizementby naming things after yourself — in short,it would have to be a regular scientific paper as in allother journals.None of the papers you have sent me so far meet thesevery elementary criteria. If you write a good paper thatdoes, I will be happy to have it reviewed and publish it ifrecommended. But if you send me letters and little bits andpieces that have already been submitted or publishedelsewhere, assuring me of ""becoming a world's scientificfocus'' if I print them, you are wasting my time, of which Ihave absolutely none to spare, and I will leave themunanswered.I would, however, much prefer the former alternative.Yourssincerely,'Petr BeckmannEditorEditorial note .
