The eighth part of the collection of documents THE THORNY WAY OFTRUTH (TWT) 1st dedicated quite the whole to the Ampere-Grassmanncontroversy, i.e., to the problem whether the interaction between twocurrent elements is to be described by the Ampere (1823) or Grassmann(1845) formula. The first one is In conformity with Newton's third law,while the second one violates it. Although Marinov's experiments withunclosed circuits violated Newton's third law and thus definitely resolvedthe controversy in favour of Grassm&nn, further investigations are neededfor clearing the basic problem about the interaction between movingcharges. Marinov's theoretical and experimental research is presentedwhich leads to the conclusion that the pushing force which acts on theAmpere bridge can be not calculated and the only way for establishing itsmagnitude is the experimental measurement. This conclusion offers ahighly interesting and instructive illustration on the touching points betweenmathematical abstraction and physical reality and on the "astuteness"of Nature in hiding its weaknesses. Another big problem to whichthe present volume is dedicated is the violation of the energy conservationlaw in plasma physics.
