6 | DEVELOPMENT FINANCEduring the year <strong>2010</strong> <strong>and</strong> almost 82.42percent <strong>of</strong> allocated funds have beenutilized as at 31st December <strong>2010</strong>.Except NDB, all other banks haveutilized funds other than the releasedamount by utilizing their own funds,<strong>and</strong> the withdrawal applications forthis excess amount have already beenreplenished by ADB. The accumulativeachievements during <strong>2010</strong> are asfollows;• 597 loans amounting to Rs. 2,780million have been approved <strong>and</strong> 331loans amounting to Rs. 1,245 millionhave already been released to SMEsutilizing ADB funds.• Out <strong>of</strong> the four participatory banks,the highest loan disbursement hasbeen achieved by NDB, granting 115loans amounting to Rs. 366 million.• In terms <strong>of</strong> the amount disbursed,on geographical coverageKurunagala District accounts forRs. 288 million where as Matara<strong>and</strong> K<strong>and</strong>y Districts contributedRs. 291 million <strong>and</strong> Rs. 302 millionrespectively. This is shown in Chart6.2.• Food processing <strong>and</strong> beveragesector, <strong>and</strong> services sector haveamounted to 58 percent <strong>of</strong> thetotal disbursement, which consist<strong>of</strong> 31 percent by service sector,<strong>and</strong> 27 percent by the foodprocessing <strong>and</strong> beverage sector asshown in Chart 6.3.Chart 6.3 shows the progress by sectorson number <strong>of</strong> projects implemented forthe year <strong>2010</strong>.Employment GenerationThe reduction <strong>of</strong> nationalunemployment to 4.9 percentin <strong>2010</strong> has contributed slightlyby generating employmentopportunity to the youth.
