1 | DEVELOPMENT PERSPECTIVESHospital Network and Strength ofManpowerThe Government provides a widearray of health services throughoutthe country through a well establishednetwork of health institutions underthe Ministry of Health and ProvincialMinistries. A steady increase in thenumber of hospitals and hospital bedsdelivering a range of medical servicesfrom primary to tertiary care wasreflected over the past five years.In view of providing improved servicesfor both curative and preventive care,the essential categories of healthmanpower have strengthened during2005 to 2010. The driving forces oftwo important categories of staff,namely, doctors and nurses, haveincreased reflecting the graduallyenhanced doctor/nurse: populationratios.
