Hazardous Waste<br />

The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) is our nation’s primary law govern<strong>in</strong>g<br />

the disposal of solid and hazardous waste. The RCRA provides general guidel<strong>in</strong>es for the waste<br />

management program. It <strong>in</strong>cludes a Congressional mandate direct<strong>in</strong>g EPA to develop a<br />

comprehensive set of regulations to implement the law. Under RCRA Subtitle C, the hazardous<br />

waste program establishes a system for controll<strong>in</strong>g hazardous waste from the time it is generated<br />

units its ultimate disposal. This program regulates commercial bus<strong>in</strong>esses as well as federal,<br />

State, and local government facilities that generate, transport, treat, store, or dispose of hazardous<br />
