Introduction <strong>and</strong> Objectives<br />

The sclerodermic h<strong>and</strong> is a serious problem due to the risk of its developing into<br />

slcerodactyly <strong>and</strong> gangren or cutaneous necroses.<br />

Materials <strong>and</strong> Methods<br />

Natural carbon dioxide gas (co2) coming from the principal hot spring of royat<br />

(france) <strong>and</strong> is used for four qualities: vasodilatation, antalgy, healing <strong>and</strong> antisepsis<br />

properties.<br />

It is applied every morning for a period of 18 days by means of:<br />

1. sleeves for h<strong>and</strong>s <strong>and</strong> fore-arms<br />

2. wet showers<br />

3. needle¬-jet sprays on fingers <strong>and</strong> toes<br />

4. subcutaneous injections into the extremities carried out by a qualified doctor<br />

Results<br />

Naturel CO2 treatment leads to a reduction of the Raynaud’s phenomenon (*),<br />

better h<strong>and</strong> movement <strong>and</strong> a decrease fingers oedema for patients who having badly<br />

swollen fingers. also small <strong>and</strong> recently formed digital ulcers heal permanently in<br />

three weeks.<br />

Conclusions<br />

It is difficult to make a blind placebo controlled study but it will be neccessary<br />
