<strong>Medical</strong> <strong>Hydrology</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Balneology</strong>: <strong>Environmental</strong> <strong>Aspects</strong><br />

lithium (330 g/L). Epidemiological study of the inhabitants of three villages (n =<br />

1162) who all their life use “Mivela” <strong>and</strong> those of control villages (n = 1140) in the<br />

same community, has shown significantly lesser incidence of cardiovascular diseases<br />

(4 times less patients with hypertension, 5 times less patients with disturbance of<br />

cardiac rhythm <strong>and</strong> 4 times less infarcts) <strong>and</strong> kidney calculus in the villages that are<br />

drinking “Mivela”.<br />

Conclusions<br />

In many countries around the world, for the reason of Mg deficiency, tables with<br />

Mg supplements are available. It is our opinion that natural mineral magnesium<br />

bicarbonate waters from Serbia can be convenient as a supplement of Mg ions.<br />
