York, 1984). We have also relied on Hougan's version of the Russell-Leon-Bellino subplot described<br />

below. Hougan's book, although it studiously avoids drawing obvious conclusions about <strong>Bush</strong>, Kissinger,<br />

Rockefeller, and many others, is a convenient starting point for the necessary metacritique of Watergate.<br />

By contrast, the Colodny-<strong>Get</strong>tlin Silent Coup (New York, 1991) represents a step backward, away from the<br />
