36 Understanding the Workspace
Using tool presets
The Tool Presets tab lets you adopt
some pre-defined toolbar settings,
specifically designed for getting the
most out of the Paintbrush Tool,
Gradient Fill tool, Crop Tool, and
various retouch tools. Toolbar presets
are each selectable from a range of
tool-based categories (e.g., Dodging).
If some toolbar settings might be of use to you in the future, you can save them to a
pre-defined category or, preferably, to a category of your own. Once stored, the
preset can be recalled from the tab at a later date.
Especially useful for brush-based tasks, you can recall pre-defined or custom
combinations of settings (e.g., brush tip, size, opacity, and flow) which would
otherwise be time consuming to recreate.
Settings for Text and Mesh Warp tools cannot be saved to the Tool Presets
tab.
To add your own category:
1. Display the Tool Presets tab.
2. Click the Tab Menu button at the top-right of the tab and choose Add
Category.... (You can also Edit or Delete categories from this menu.)
3. In the dialog, enter a new category name and click OK. The new empty
category is displayed automatically.
To save your own tool preset:
1. With your tool selected, adjust the tool's context toolbar properties in
readiness for saving.
2. In the Tool Presets tab, select a category from the drop-down list of category
names.

Hooray! Your file is uploaded and ready to be published.
