Setting Up
When you insert SOIC (Small Outline Integrated Circuit) devices, make sure
pin 1, represented by the notch or the circle indented into the package at one
end of the device, is to the left, as shown in the illustration.

with the bottom of the device aligned with the bottom of the socket.
