Spot Color Simulation
Step 4: Enter Comment and Save
Using the RFP file saves you the trouble of having to create an ICC
profile for your printer. Note that the RFP file may not entirely cover the
color gamut required for correctly simulating all of your spot colors.
The recommended save location for RFP files is …\Program
Files\CGS\Common Files\ICC\Reference Printer Profiles\.
Step 4: Enter Comment and Save
Back in the SPOT COLOR CORRECTION dialog, do the following:
1. If you want, you can enter a COMMENT into the input box, e.g. on the
dot gain curve used for these spot colors.
2. Save the spot color correction file (*.SCG). To do so, click on the SAVE
button and enter a file name.
The names of the SCG file and printer characterization file (e.g. proof
profile) are displayed at the top of the SPOT COLOR CORRECTION dialog.
Note: If you change the proof profile, the CMYK device colors will be recalculated
for all spot colors. Make sure to save the SCG file before doing so.

Spot colors can be imported from files, defined manually or obtained by
measurement. Using the DELETE button you can remove selected spot
colors from the dialog.
Importing Spot Colors From Files
1. Use the --IMPORT-- list in the SPOT COLOR CORRECTION dialog to select
a *.lab spot color library (see Fig. 15-4).
Select OTHERS from this list to load files of a different type or stored
in another location. The following file types are also supported:
• Spot color correction files (*.SCG)
• Logo ColorPicker files (*.LCP)
The ICC profile stored in these files will be ignored.
