This shows that corrections defined by a *.GRD file apply to primary
colors, for example, whereas those defined by a *.PGR file apply to the
corrected colors – which may have become mixed with other colors
owing to the color transformation.
This has the following implications:
• Having created a *.GRD file and then fine-tuned the color correction
table, you should no longer modify the *.GRD file. If you did
this, the color correction would no longer apply to the same colors.
• Having created a *.PGR file, you should no longer fine-tune the
color correction table, because the gradation corrections defined
by the *.PGR file would no longer apply to the same colors.
Therefore, make sure to adhere to the following order:
1. Create a global color correction file (*.GRD).
2. Optimize the color correction table (see Fine Tuning, page 18-1).
3. Use a proofer gradation file (*.PGR) if additional gradation corrections
are required.
