Step 4: Eliminate Sharp Color Transitions

In the COLOR VALUE CORRECTION dialog, you can eliminates sharp
transitions between colors by clicking on the SMOOTH button. This causes
gradients to be rendered more smoothly (without tone jumps), but
may also lead to a slight increase in color deviation (delta E).
• Clicking on SMOOTH modifies colors within the current action range
only, i.e. the selected color and similar colors (recommended).
• SHIFT-clicking this button modifies the entire color correction table
(usually not recommended).
Skip this step if you have performed iterative color matching, because
this function smooths colors automatically.
The best way to detect sharp color transitions is using the 3-dimensional
view of the *.CC color correction table (see Fig. 18-6).
