Acción y Realidad en la obra de Truman Capote
Para Capote, otro de los policías que seguía la investigación con
Dewey, Harold Nye era “a peppy little man of thirty-four with restless,
distratfuí eyes and a sharp nose, chin and mmd, had been asigned what he
called “the damned delicate business of interview the Clutter kinfolk”
(Capote 1966:68-69) y después utiliza y aparece una voz impersonal de
narrador para hablar de los motes de ¡a policía. Además, Capote recoge la
reacción del pueblo a través de su impresión cuando dice
“Another reason, the simplest, the ugliest was that
this hitherto congregation ofneighbours and oíd friends had
suddenly to endure the unique experience of distrusting
each other; understandably, they believed that the murderer
was among themselves and, to the last man, endorsed and
opinion advanced by Arthur Clutter, a brother of the
deceased, who, while talking to the journalists in the lobby
of a Garden City hotel on 17 November, had said, “When
this is cleared np. 1’lI wager whoever did it was someone
within ten miles where we now stand.” (Capote 1966:71-
72)
Seguidamente, una vez más, la foto cambia de lugar y vamos a los
asesinos que están leyendo
“the front page article in the 17 November edition of
the Kansas City Star. Headed CLUBS ARE FEW IN
SLAYING OF 4, the article, whieh was a follow-up of the
previous days initial announcement of the murders, ended
with a summarizing paragraph:
“‘[he investigators are left faced with a search for a
killer or killers whose cunning is apparent if his (or their)
