Para Truman Capote, como niño, el Sur despertaba una magia
especial donde el misterio y la alegría ocupaban un lugar muy importante,
después de todo, aquel lugar era entrañable y cálido; desde este punto de
vista Truman compara el sentimiento anterior con la frialdad que Nueva
York depararia a un niño como el que él fue. Al igual que vimos la relación
de la vida y de la obra de Truman Capote en relación con el Sur,
analizaremos acontecimientos, personajes y opiniones que de hecho forma
parte de su autobiografia. En primer lugar, veremos las referencias a la
propia ciudad de Nueva York en sus obras como principal factor de una
determinada psicología a desarrollar por parte de sus personajes; también
veremos que esa misma localización en Nueva York clasificará a esos
mismos personajes por estamentos sociales. De esta forma en el relato
corto “Masler Misery’ Capote, en 1949, sitúa a sus personajes en plena
ciudad
