Como muestra de la veracidad de las anteriores afirmaciones y de la
relación de Fouts con Truman Capote podemos citar en este punto las
opiniones de George Plimpton y de Gore Vidal. Con ellas podemos
observar la autobiografia que el autor enmascara en forma de su relación
con Fouts. Según Plimpton
“At the otiter end of tite scale of Truman’s
acquaintace in Paris... was Denitam Fouts, a faseinating
figure, a male whore, a kind of dark angel of the Paris
nighttime streets, and who had been - as rumor had it - so
entranced by the famous book jacket photograph of Truman
reclining on tite sofa that he itad sent him a blank check with
the single word on it: “Come”. Truman went to see him a
few times in a darkened bedroom in his apartment on the
Rue du Bac. The relationship was apparently asexual,
Fouts’s libido having been destroyed by drugs, op¡um in
particular. Truman read to him and listened to his stories.”

Gore Vidal, por su parte, muestra una parte de la historia de Fouts
que Capote, por otro lado, escribe de igual forma en Answered Prayers.
